5.2.3 SHEAR BOLT
A shear pin is provided at the PTO shaft input yoke
to protect the drive system during an overload.
To change the shear pin, follow this procedure:
1. Clear the area of bystanders, especially small
children.
2. Place all controls in neutral or off, stop engine,
set park brake, remove ignition key and wait
for all moving parts to stop before servicing,
adjusting, repairing, or unplugging.
3. Turn PTO shaft by hand to locate the shear pin
hole.
4. Carefully remove remaining shear pin using
hammer and punch if necessary. Be careful
not to enlarge the hole.
5. Install the new shear pin and tighten to its
specified torque. Do not over-tighten.
6. Replacement shear bolts can be stored on the
front vertical support frame.
NOTE
When replacing shear bolt, use only
standard Grade 5 bolt for all operat-
ing conditions.
